Around here, the rain drives you crazy. It's absence and abundance. Living through the ever-brown drought of last year made us forget what proper rain is. Luckily the clouds chose to rain on us yesterday, finally giving the house dam water. The relief is temporary as the surface water will dry up soon, the grass will die and the ice cold, bone dry winter will set in. For the moment we are grateful and looking forward to more rain, as we are only halfway through our rainy season. I'm still getting used to the fact that here, on the farm, the seasons dictate our lives. I cannot 'fix' this drought but I believe my eternal optimism might make it bearable.
